I need help!
These days it isn't enough to have a good song; you must be good at promoting it on TikTok, Instagram and other social media. That's the way for modern songs and the new generation, because they're the frequent users of TikTok and Instagram. But my music is “old school” — the wonderful years of '70s, '80s and '90s music — and I need to find a more mature market (usually over 35) and reach them. Many of them don't use TikTok, so I have a better chance on Facebook and YouTube.
Having said that, out of my listeners to date, about 25—30% were 25 or younger and showed equal liking for my songs. These younger fans grew to love the music because their parents played it constantly, sometimes even singing along at home or in the car. There are over 100,000 songs uploaded to YouTube and Spotify every day — incredible, isn't it? So we have to get help from any and every source to get known and liked. They say you need at least 200,000 likes before an agent will look at taking you on — and even then there are no guarantees. Great odds, eh?
So, if you're someone who could help promote my songs, do let me know and let's chat. For example, once while driving Uber I picked up four girls around 18 or 19 who were loving my songs in the car. We sang a couple together, and I mentioned I was interested in collaborating with a female singer on one of my songs. They all wanted in, and one was recording it on her phone. She said she'd post the video to her Instagram, where she had over 1,000 followers, and send me a copy. That's one of the many ways an influencer could help.
I am also searching for a woman singer to collaborate and do a few duets with, or even to write a song for her to sing, with some backing and harmonising. She should be attractive (inside and out), confident, in her 20s to 40s, and preferably living on the Gold Coast or in Kuala Lumpur, because these days I seem to be living between the two cities.
